The Mission

For the past 10 months, I've been deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Since my arrival, people back home have asked me, "What's Iraq like?", "What do you do there?", "Is it scary?", "Are you bored?", etc. By my ninth month here, I finally figured out that the best way to answer these questions was to not answer them at all. Instead, I would show everyone the answers. One picture, taken every hour, to show what I am doing here. If a picture is truly worth a thousand words, then hopefully this blog can explain what is happening in Iraq better than any news article can.

And so it begins: Day 1.

0900: Walking back to my CHU after getting a pack of water...

1000: Leaving the JSS to conduct some training!

1100: The Iraqi Federal Police ready for some training.

1200: Walking back from conducting a meeting with a Federal Police Brigadier General.

1300: Watching the Federal Police practicing Room Clearing.

1400: Chow time! Some lamb, rice, bread, and an apple. Delicious!!

1500: Driving back from the training event... Many Iraqi drivers are more reckless than New York cab drivers.

1600: Matt Ervin modelling some liquid energy...

1700: On my way back to my room I spotted an up-armored truck... Neat-O!

1800: Burning some pictures to a CD for a storyboard... I may or may not have fallen asleep during this process....
1900: Oh look a discreet picture of a meeting...
2000: Walking back to my CHU... EXCITING!!
2100: Ladies and Gentlemen, CPT White... aka the Boss.
2200: Back to the room for the night!! It looks like a tornado swept through here..
