The Mission

For the past 10 months, I've been deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Since my arrival, people back home have asked me, "What's Iraq like?", "What do you do there?", "Is it scary?", "Are you bored?", etc. By my ninth month here, I finally figured out that the best way to answer these questions was to not answer them at all. Instead, I would show everyone the answers. One picture, taken every hour, to show what I am doing here. If a picture is truly worth a thousand words, then hopefully this blog can explain what is happening in Iraq better than any news article can.

Day 7: Back at it again!

0900: Consolidating my laundry, only to find out that the laundry place is closed on Sundays....greaaaaaaat.

1000: Working. Again. Wooo.

1100: I'm not sure that my chicken should look more orange than my carrots.... I need a real meal asap!

1200: I was not watching Pumping Iron on my computer.... definitely not.

1300: Some soup courtesy of Mama B... the perfect thing for my cold.

1400: The "Fun Zone" is comprised of a couple shops owned and operated by local Iraqis... The shop in the middle has the best falafel in Baghdad.

1500: LT Bunt and SSG Kerkhoff talking about how everyone has a cold now...

1600: Walking back to my CHU, I spotted a bird... to be honest, there really was nothing else exciting going on... Congrats Bird, you made my blog..

1700: Some Troopers unloading a truck full of supplies and mail. Kind of crazy to think that some of these guys risk their lives to deliver gatorade and mail...

1800: Sorting through the mail in order to ensure that each Troop gets the right mail.

1900: Good thing I keep my room clean.....

2000: Well apparently I dozed off for a few... Lucky for me,  Matt snapped a 2000 picture..

2100: Matt also decided to wake me up and take another picture... Not my best.

2200: Thanks to watching Pumping Iron earlier in the day, I was able to help Matt strike an epic pose... Sorry ladies, he's happily engaged.
